Livelihood Loan Scheme: About a
decade ago a joint chapel building team from NSW and Western Australia combined
to achieve a building project on the Island of Bohol.
Our leader over budgeted for this project, leaving nearly $10,000 available.
Financial Origin of the Scheme:A joint decision was made by the team of 21 that we would donate $2,000 to a
Bible college whose staff had greatly assisted our team with transport and urgent
overnight accommodation in Cebu.
The remaining near $8,000 we again jointly chose to put toward a micro loan
scheme which we developed. Subsequently the scheme is known as Livelihood Loan
Scheme.
Benefits of the scheme:
Over the last decade that scheme has benefited many Filipinos. Some have started
up business's, others put family members through University or Bible College, some
undertook building repairs after damaging typhoons, others meet urgent medical needs, and the list goes on.
The scheme has been an enormous blessing to many people whose lives has been
enhanced immeasurably as a result of the small "financial lift" which
we're able to offer them.
The scheme does not charge interest but, a 5% pa administration charge which
enables us to administer the scheme, meet any short fall and gradually add
value to the financial status of the scheme.
No money from the scheme ever leaves the Philippines and as a team we take no
financial benefit.
